The STEM Lab was buzzing with activity as both Miss Ellis' and Miss Borgerding's class got busy with measuring the circumference, measuring the mass with a scale, counting the pumpkin ribs, scooping out the seeds, and then estimating the number of seeds in the pumpkins. Most students thought that the larger pumpkins had more seeds, but they were surprised to find out that the smaller pie pumpkins had more seeds! Who would have thought that? There were over 300 seeds in the largest pumpkin. Students in Miss Borgerding had a contest to guess how many seeds the large pumpkin held. Congrats to Justin Aroundade who guessed the closest to the number(140)! We had fun getting our hands messy for this fall STEM project. Students also learned about the life cycle of the pumpkin before attending the STEM lab.
First graders enjoyed learning all about how to milk a cow at Cagle Farm. This is a photo of the kids watching a demonstration starring Rosie the Cow!
Kate Randazzo and Ms. B. smile for the camera at the KCSMA County Fair! Ms. B.'s class, along with the other first grade classes, held a Silent Auction with themed gift baskets! Ms. B.'s class earned $50.00 for the Grilling Basket! Kids also won prizes from first grade's Lollipop Tree! KCSMA students enjoyed bounce houses, face painting, balloons, food trucks, the pet contest, throwing pies at teacher, among many of the activities at the fair!
